Mental Health & Wellness

At Catholic Charities East Bay,

we understand the importance of protecting and supporting the well-being of the communities we serve. We focus on improving mental wellbeing and resilience among program participants, reducing instances of violence in homes and communities and strengthening family relationships and community support networks. Our Mental Health Department works with youth and their families to help them continue to thrive.

School-Based Therapy

We provide short-term individual and family therapy (up to 8 sessions) to youth ages 8-18 at several school sites in Oakland. We provide trauma-informed care while using a positive youth development approach that emphasizes strengths and assets. Students are referred by their teachers, caregivers or they can self-refer.

Restorative Practices Curriculums

We facilitate a 12-week curriculum that aims to help participants’ development by focusing on self-awareness, introspection, communication, and emotional regulation. It encourages continuous improvement by prompting individuals to reflect on their experiences and strengths. The group dynamic of the model allows the participants to experience support, accountability, and healthy communication in a safe setting, allowing for better retention of the lessons provided.

Our curriculums can be adapted for facilitation by various groups including teachers, community leaders, health professionals, parishes and not is not limited to youth or only those who work with youth.

Path II, Differential Response Program

Serving Central Contra Costa County, the Path II program works with parents and children to strengthen families, improve child well-being and help children stay safely with their families in their home. We provide case management and advocacy services; psychoeducation on topics including domestic violence, child development and parenting; resource connection; and work with each family to create a service plan that helps identify specific goals that will improve their circumstances and help them thrive.

At this time, referrals can only be made by Contra Costa County Children and Family Services.
