Standing United for Peace, Healing, and Unity Among All People
Catholic Charities of the East Bay joins our brothers and sisters in Charlottesville, VA, and across the nation in standing up against the evil of racism, white supremacy, neo-Nazism, and the Ku Klux Klan.

We stand united for peace, healing, and unity.

These deeply troubling events are the culmination of increasing acts of racism and are counter to our values. We celebrate America’s rich and colorful tapestry of people representing all races, ethnicities, genders, and faiths.

We join the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in their call to “Unite ourselves in the spirit of hope offered by the clergy, people of faith, and all people of good will who peacefully defended their city and country.”

We mourn the lives lost and honor the courage of all who strive for justice. As the Bishops also wrote, “Let us join their witness and stand against every form of
oppression.”

Our faith calls us to love’s victory over evil.
