School Counseling, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties
CCEB provides counseling services to students in parochial schools in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. School Counselors work with individual students and their families to address emotional and behavioral concerns that affect their ability to succeed in school. CCEB’s School Counselors are also available for faculty and staff consultations, and help the school community as a whole respond to crises and disruptive events. The clinician would also be available for teacher consultation, as well as supporting any school-wide response to crises or events that negatively affects the school community.
CCEB’s school counseling services prioritize parochial and public schools that serve communities with high rates of poverty in which residents are repeatedly exposed to violence. In 2011, working in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District, Catholic Charities’ crisis counselors provided trauma counseling and intensive family support to 45 children and families in 19 public schools.
