Critical Family Needs
Provided over 775 families with emergency food, housing and financial assistance.

Counseling

  • School Counselors served over 350 families in
    17 Catholic Schools.
  • Counselors helped over 200 families work through problems.
  • Counselors helped 100 substance abusers in
    one-on-one sessions.
  • Provided housing counseling and workshops to 300
    low-income families.

Youth and Senior Programs

  • Combated community violence by mentoring 75
    incarcerated youth.
  • Conducted weekly life-skills presentations to over 350 incarcerated youth.
  • Guided 25 emancipated foster youth in their
    transition to adulthood.
  • Housed 5 emancipated foster youth in transitional housing.
  • Served over 800 Southeast Asian seniors, including 240 frail and isolated seniors.

Immigration and Refugee Services and Programs

  • Provided legal services to over 550 clients.
  • Provided consultation and workshops for over 2,500 clients.
  • Provided counsel to 55 women who were victims of
    domestic violence.
  • Reunited 35 refugee families.
  • Conducted Marriage and Family Strengthening workshops for 170 refugees.
  • Provided Employment and Training services to 125 refugees.
  • Provided childcare job-training education to 120 limited-English speaking students.
  • Taught parenting and adult literacy classes to 50 limited-English speaking families.

Case Management

  • 120 men and women with HIV/AIDS received
    case management.
  • Provided intensive case management to 12 families in Child Protective Services system.
  • Provided relief services to 221 Hurricane Katrina families.

Projects

  • Parish and community groups adopted 55 families.
  • Distributed Christmas toys to 521 families and approximately 1,000 children.
  • Distributed over 2,000 Christmas turkeys to families in need.
  • Helped 178 low-income families prepare their taxes, resulting in over $190,000 in refunds.
