Every Year, Catholic Charities of the East Bay (CCEB) raises more than $4 million in grants from private and corporate funders and government sources. Our 5-year plan also calls for increased grant revenue for new and expanded programs, especially from multi-year government grants.
The Grant Writer will report to the Director of Grants and will be responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely, accurate, and polished proposals (including budgets) to foundation, corporate, and some governmental sources. This includes prospect research; maintaining the grants calendar and complying with CCEB’s tracking and filing conventions; interfacing with Programs to gather information about funding needs on a regular basis; submitting 3-6 grant applications per month (depending on size); assisting the Director of Grants in preparing and updating the annual Grant Writing Plan; interfacing with Finance and Programs to create budgets for use in grant proposals; and occasionally assisting with grant reporting and other grant-related or writing tasks as-needed.
The Grant Writer must be an excellent, adaptive writer with flawless attention to detail who also has well-developed verbal communication and people skills. Prior Grant Writing experience and a basic understanding of nonprofit accounting and budgeting is preferred.
